TitleSt Jerome's Commentary on the Prophet Amos [Fragment]
Date10th Century?
DescriptionHalf of a leaf from a copy of St Jerome's Commentary on the Prophet Amos (Commentariorum Sancti Hieronymi In Amos Prophetae), parchment. The leaf has been cut vertically down the centre, what remains is the right-hand side of the text. Main body text in a Caroline minuscule hand in brown in a single column.
The text is from Chapter II. The left-hand side of the text is missing from the recto but the first two lines read "[suppl]antavit et abstulit primo [genita et persecuti sunt in] gladio ita ut substantias". The last line on the recto reads "quando captivi eius nabu[chrondosor]". The text continues on the verso with "[nabu]chrondosor vincente duce[ntur et idolum ammonitarum] quod vocatur melchom id [est rex eorum feretur in Assyrios].
There are some small annotations at the left-hand edge of the text on the verso, possibly Hebrew? These are in brown ink and probably contemporary with the main text. There is also a pencil annotation "IH10" and "2" on the verso.
