DescriptionManuscript volume, 15th century: Petrus Suchen, 'Reise In Das Heilige Land' (Journey in the Holy Land). The text is divided into 126 chapters, but 16 are wanting and four are partly missing, owing to the loss of folios.
On paper, bound in leather over oak boards, stamped with a fleur-de-lys motif. Single brass clasp fastening, mongrammed? Binding is similar in style to MS GERM 11 and MS GERM 17.

CustodialHistoryThe manuscript belonged in 1654 to the Augustinian hermits of Fribourg, Switzerland. It later belonged to Sir Thomas Phillipps (1792-1872), baronet, an antiquary and bibliophile whose collection included c60,000 manuscripts of various kinds, some relating to the administration of Swiss towns. Various manuscripts were sold after Sir Thomas's death, some to the German government, and were dispersed to several libraries. Formerly Phillipps MS 24505. Bearing also on the inside front cover: a 68.655; and on the back of the binding: 966.
