Title	Decrees and Letters from the Order of St Francis

Description	Manuscript volume, perhaps 18th century: 'Decreta et Epistolae Ex Ordine S. Francisci de Doctrina Molinae' (decrees and letters from the order of St Francis concerning the doctrine of Molina), containing two 'decreta', one epistle, and 'Lectori Monitum ab Autore hujus Epistolae' (warning to the reader from the author of this letter).

AdminHistory	Luis De Molina: born at Cuenca, Spain, 1535; became a Jesuit at the University of Coimbra, Portugal, 1553; studied philosophy and theology at Coimbra, 1554-1562; taught at Coimbra, 1563-1567; taught at vora, 1568-1583; spent his last years writing; devised the theological system of Molinism, which aimed to show that man's will remains free under the action of divine grace; died at Madrid, 1600.
CustodialHistory	The volume bears the bookplate of Walter Seton, and the pressmark h491098. Seton was a former College Secretary. Following Seton's death, a fund was raised to buy books of Franciscan interest from his collection.
Acquisition	Presented to University College London by the British Society of Franciscan Studies and others.
