AdminHistoryBorn Strelitz (?), younger son of Eliakim Getz (Goetz), 1757; after the death of his elder brother Benjamin, an engraver and jeweller who also acted as rabbi, hazan (cantor), shohet (ritual slaughterer) and mohel (circumcisor) for the Liverpool Jewish community, in 1798, he settled in Liverpool, probably in order to manage his brother's jewellery business and look after his family; married Martha Abrahams of Shaftesbury, Somerset; died 1825.
