AdminHistoryBorn 1865, eldest son of Sir J R Fergusson, 2nd Baronet, and Mary Ann Somes, daughter of Thomas Colyer; educated at Harrow and Christ Church, Oxford; married Beatrice Stanley, daughter of Rt Hon Prof Max Mller; assumed additional name of Colyer on his marriage; one son, three daughters; life member, Kent Archaeological Society, 1889-1951, Honorary Treasurer, 1903-1904, Vice-President, 1946-1951; widowed, 1902; High Sheriff of Kent, 1906; married Mary Freda, daughter of Rt Hon Arthur Cohen, 1914; succeeded to the baronetcy, 1924; FSA; Warden. of Rochester Bridge; held many other voluntary offices; member of several learned Societies, antiquarian and genealogical; his genealogical researches included the Jewish community, although he was not himself Jewish; died 1951. Publications include: 'The registers of the French Church, Threadneedle Street, London' (1896-1916); pedigrees published in 'Archaeologia Cantiana' and 'Miscellanea Genealogica'; he also made and indexed copies of the registers of nearly sixty parishes in the Diocese of Rochester.
