AdminHistoryBorn Alfred Rubenstein, London, son of a Polish-born tobacconist, estate agent and property developer, 1903; educated at the City of London School; chartered surveyor and estate agent; served in the Admiralty and the Intelligence Corps in World War II; Chairman, Property and Reversionary Investment Corporation Ltd; from the 1920s he built up an outstanding collection of prints and engravings of Jewish life; President, Jewish Historical Society of England, 1956-1958; Chairman, London Jewish Museum; FRICS; FSA; died 1998. Publications include: 'Anglo-Jewish Portraits' (1935); 'A Jewish Iconography' (1954); 'A History of Jewish Costume' (1967).
