DescriptionCommonplace book compiled by Sir William Drake. Manuscript commonplace book in two parts with a third section from the middle of the book now missing (removed?). A new (blank) replacement section has been added in 2019 to support the binding. Both original sections contain notes from the proceedings of the Court of Star Chamber (Camera Stellata) and High Court ["Notes taken out of some Collections of one Lashford a Solliciter of some procceeding in the Star Chamber and High Commission 8° Caro: Reg: 1632"], and various other notes made from books and letters. These include: A collection of notes on government, parliament and legal cases in the prerogative courts taken from mss lent to William Drake by a 'Mr Stratton' and possibly by Cotton and D'Ewes; 'Notes taken from a discourse of Sir Roger Owen uppon a question whether the King without assent of Parlament, may set impositions uppon the wares & goods of Marchants exported imported out of in, and unto this Realm.; 'Notes taken out of a booke of Sir John Davies in defence of the kings prerogative and notes on English reports lent by Sir Geoffrey Palmer.

Interspersed throughout are notes on the Star Chamber, Court of Wards and Exchequer. The notes date from around the first year of the reign of Charles I [i.e. 1600] to around 1635. There is a note on f.1v allegedly pertaining to Francis Bacon; "Lord Bacon's Money".
