DescriptionCommonplace book compiled by Sir William Drake. Consists of notes from the following works: Loccenius, "De Periodus imperiorum, sive Dissertationes historico-politicae", 1633; Henry Savile's edition of the "Histories" of Tacitus, 1591; Lipsius, "Sixe bookes of politickes" 1594; Strabo, "Rerum Geographicarum"; and from other diverse sources titled "Notes from Sir Robert Cicills [Cesil's] Negotiations in France the last January 1597"; "Lord privy Seale letter to his son"' "Notes taken from a Journall of the Conference betweene his Majesties Commissioners and King of Spane [Spain] and Archduke 1604".

Also notes on the French language and grammar, and short notes from works by Petrus Cunaeus, Michael Piccarto, Cardan, Famianus Strada, Bacon, Ben Jonson, Sir John Suckling, Justin and Diodorus Siculus, John Howson and Andrew Willet.

At one end of the volume there are several lists of references to sources used elsewhere in the collection.

The volume can be dated from a note "A breviate of Newse as I have heard from England since my departure thence" with dates in 1634. later there are travel notes and conversations recorded in the Netherlands in July 1635 and September 1637. A reference to "Fullers booke of the holy war" is dated 1640.
