| AdminHistory | Appointed to ensure 'an accurate and authoritative information base', this Committee supported the activities of the seven working groups, mainly by the gathering and analysis of existing data. It also published series of short briefings by experts on particular topics intended to both inform the Commission and stimulate public debate. The collected briefings were later published in the volume Briefings for the Paul Hamlyn Foundation National Commission on Education (London: Heinemann, 1993). The Committee consisted of Claus Moser, Christopher Johnson (Lloyds Bank), Jeff Thompson (University of Bath), Andrew McPherson (University of Edinburgh), Peter Mortimore (Institute of Education) and AH Halsey (Nuffield College, Oxford). |
