DescriptionIn 1941, because of fears over the effect of air raids in London, the National Hospital's surgical department and its staff were transferred to Hurstwood Park Hospital, Haywards Heath, Sussex, along with some nurses. Hurstwood Park had originally been built in 1938 as an acute psychiatric admissions unit.
