AdminHistoryThe National Council for Diplomas in Art and Design (NCDAD) was amalgamated with the Council for National Academic Awards (CNAA) in April 1974 resulting in all diploma courses in art and design leading to BA degrees under the CNAA.

The Slade School consequently applied for its Diploma in Fine Art to become a a BA Fine Art degree course, something which could be backdated to counter the fact that art teachers with diplomas rather than degrees were denied higher points on salary scales.
