Records of the British Families Education Service/Service Children's Education Association The collection comprises records of the BFES/SCE Association and papers and ephemera collected by teachers who have previously worked at BFES, SCS or SCE schools. UCL Special Collections do not hold the official records of the British Families Education Service (BFES), Service Children's Schools (SCS) or Service Children's Education (SCE). These were the formal bodies responsible for the education of children of British Forces and the Ministry of Defence personnel stationed outside of the UK. The formal records are held by The National Archives. Log books are held by the National Army Museum. We cannot help with enquiries about employment, education or immigration status as we do not hold the official records. Such enquiries should be directed to The National Archives. The collection comprises: Administrative papers of the BFES/SCE Association including minutes of meetings, papers regarding events and publications; Recollections, diaries, photographs and school publications of former BFES/SCE teachers working in Belgium, Cyprus, Germany (West Berlin and West Germany), Egypt, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Mauritius, Sri Lanka and Yemen; Small number of records of the BFES/SCE itself including teaching resources, information for staff and families living abroad, and publications. Most of these papers have been donated by members of the BFES/SCE Association but relate more generally to the work of the BFES/SCE rather than the work of individual schools.
