Calendar Customs Bundles of notes compiled when researching the British Calendar Customs publications, which were a revision and extension of "The Popular Antiquities of Great Britain" by Brand and Ellis (1777). The 'Brand Committee' was established in 1911 to carry out this work; the original members were Henry B Weatley, Charlotte S Burne, A R Wright and Mary Macleod Banks. Also notes used for later revisions by A R Wright, T E Jones and M Macleod Banks in 1939 + 1942. The notes are all manuscript and appear to have come from several sources. Many are annotated "used" or "not used" to indicate whether they were used in the final publications. 20th Century
