Crania Item described in an old list as "Composite of 8 crania. Brit. Ass. Report p.690, York, 1881". Possibly one of a number of framed composites? The Report of the British Association for the Advancement of Science, vol. 51, 1881, includes a bief report by Francis Galton titled: "On the Application of Composite Portraiture to Anthropological Purposes" (pp.690-691). Galton reported that he had recently exhibited a composite photograph of eight skulls of Adaman Islanders; presumably the photograph described above. c1881
