  <dc:description>Notice in Ladino [Judeo Spanish] from the 'Sancta Hebra Instituidaem Amsterdam' [the Hevra Kaddisha, i.e. Holy Brotherhood, of the Spanish and Portuguese community of Amsterdam, established in 5465/1705. This group is a standard Jewish community institution in charge of the care of the dead]. Issued to a member of the group to be present on the 4th day of the Jewish month of Sivan 5646 [Monday 7th June 1886] to take part in the ritual washing, prior to the burial of, 'Jacob C Peres'  [middle name not clear]. Notice is decorated with a drawing of the activities of the Hevra Kaddisha, in this case washing and carrying the dead. Top of the notice contains the Hebrew phrase 'Benevolence/charity and Truth' with a skull in between the words. </dc:description>
