  <dc:description>Correspondence between Moses Gaster and Theodor Herzl, mainly written in German, covering the years 1896-1903. Includes some circulars written by Herzl for Jewish organisations regarding Zionism, and a letter from the English Zionist Federation during the time at which Gaster was President. Some of these papers are typescript transcriptions of letters.

This file also includes:
- an 18-page typescript letter from James A. Malcolm to Lord Peel, dated 17 August, 1936, regarding 'Palestine and the Jewish Problem; A Zionist Solution.'
- a photocopy of a flyer for a 'Mass Meeting of East End Jews', involving Gaster and Herzl;
- a typescript list of Gaster's involvement at Zionist conferences (1898-1913), with accompanying typed notes by Josef Fraenkel entitled 'Haham Gaster and Zionism' (date unknown, mid-20th century);
- typed lists of the letters in this file, giving dates.</dc:description>
