Judith Lady Montefiore College: Letter book re. 'Ramsgate Affair' A bound volume from Moses Gaster's time as Principal of Judith Lady Montefiore College, entitled 'Observations of Dr G. & Report'. It contains copies of Moses Gaster's correspondence regarding what became known as the 'Ramsgate College Affair', where two of Gaster's students were accused of 'immoral conduct' (casual sexual relations with a woman, and eating non-kosher food). This volume also includes: - a c.60-page draft document, entitled 'Observations of Rev. Dr. Gaster on the Report of the Special Committee dated 15th March 1896, to the Elders'; - statements by the accused students; - transcription of a press article. 1887-1896
