  <dc:description>Papers regarding the initial affect of the 1944 Education Act on the Trust and the Fleming Report on Public Schools. The papers were split into separate folders as follows: 
I) Memorandum submitted and evidence submitted by the Trust to the Fleming Committee, including drafts of the memorandum and correspondence regarding the committee and proposals to abolish school fees; memoranda presented to the Fleming Committee by the Association of Head Mistresses and the Association of Governing Bodies of Girls' Public Schools (GBGSA).
II) annotated copy of the Education Bill; annotated white paper  on 'Principles of Government in Maintained Secondary Schools'; memorandum and notes by the Trust regarding educational reconstruction, the Education Bill, and the report of the Fleming Committee; annotated white paper on Education Reconstruction with inserted manuscript notes on important paragraphs; correspondence regarding the Education Bill; rough meetings of Council meetings regarding the Education Bill and the proposed abolition of grant-allied schools; table of assistance given to Trust schools by local education authorities; 
III) Report of the Fleming Committee; memorandum on points about the finance of the Trust; annotated memorandum on the constitution of the Trust; draft of memorandum presented to the Fleming Committee; note on discussion with the GBGSA; draft regulations to be applicable to Direct Grant Schools';  manuscript notes on the draft regulations and the settlement of new salary scales; correspondence with Head Mistresses' reading regional Direct Grant school meetings; press cuttings regarding the post-war educational reconstruction. </dc:description>
