Elizabeth Marché Elizabeth Marché, a 38 or 39 year old woman, requests to be admitted to the Hospital. She is the daughter of Philippe Marché, a Huguenot refugee. Elizabeth suffers from a severe mental illness that manifested itself four years previously following a deep depression. She is unable to look after herself and is relying exclusively on the care of her parents, friends and neighbours.
