Zacharie Clermont Zacharie Clermont, a 64 year old man, requests to be admitted to the Hospital. He was born in Bergerac, in Périgord, but came to London as a refugee forty years ago. He suffers from severe colic and edema in his legs so can no longer work. A note at the end, signed by Jacob Bourdillon, Pasteur, certifies that Zacharie had been a member of the French Church of La Patente for the last forty years.
