He is a 66 year old man born in Guernsey, but his grandfather, the late Philippe Giffar, was originally from Condé, in Normandy. He has been completely paralysed for the past six  months and the doctor does not think that he will be able to recover. The petition is signed by Robert Galhié, Pierre Guillebaud, Michel Serres, Matt Gilbert, Pierre Le Brument and Francis Paumier. Pinned to it  is a certificate signed by J N Jacquin, a doctor, confirming the paralysis, dated 4 April 1770.</dc:description>
