  <dc:title>James Ferrand's petition</dc:title>
<dc:description>James Ferrand, a 65 year old widower, requests to be admitted to the Hospital. He was born on 25 March 1784. His parents were Catherine Olive and James Ferrand. The petitioner's paternal grandfather was a Protestant who fled Normandy to avoid religious persecution. James is a silkweaver but suffers from poor eyesight so is unable to work. The petition bears James Ferrand's mark and is signed by James Verdon.
At the back, a note states that the petitioner's father was a resident of the French Hospital between 14 January 1832, up to his death on 9 November 1832.
