35 - 37 Bedford Way A new hostel was provided for about 43 women students at 35 - 37 Bedford Way by the repair and adaptation of Meiers Hotel with the aid of a university grant of £8000. (C1950s). In the late 1960s some rooms were adapted for staff use - as teaching rooms and staff rooms. Some time in the late 1960s/early 1970s the lease on 35-37 Bedford Way was sold back to Imperial London Hotels Limited in return for buying a lease for 1 - 3 Bedford Place. There is also relevant material in IE/BLD/5 as 1-3 Bedford Place was adapted as use for an IOE hostel to replace the use of 35 - 37 Bedford Way (both buildings owned by Imperial London Hotels Limited). 1950s - 1970s
