The lectures were held to commemorate the work of Terence McLaughlin in Philosophy of Education, focusing on the themes of the common school, faith schools and citizenship. The series began on 15 November 2006 and a welcome by Professor Geoff Whitty, Director of the Institute. The following lectures were given:
