  <dc:description>Fred Joice Schonell was born 3rd August 1900, in Perth, Western Australia. He attended Perth Modern school and went on to do a teaching course for two years and then to teachers college. Fred moved to London to do a teachers diploma in 1929 where he did a Ph.D in "An investigation into disability in spelling amongst children and adults".
