  <dc:description>A file of James Britton’s papers regarding his involvement with the National Association of Teachers of English (NATE). This file consists mainly of the text of creative writing exercises used in the classroom, including analysis of samples of children’s responses, and transcripts of classes in the ‘Language Across the Curriculum’ project.
This file also contains papers from NATE conferences at Reading (1971), York (1972 and 1974), and Birmingham (1973). The papers from the York 1974 conference include the text of a plenary speech by Harry Ree entitled ‘Continuity and Change’; and a report entitled ‘West Indian Children in London Schools; What kind of Teacher Education is possible’, regarding Black children from Caribbean backgrounds.</dc:description>
