The BJAB was set up in 1989 by by the Department of Trade and Industry and the Science and Engineering Research Council. They were subsequently joined as full partners or observers by the other Research Councils. The BJAB's mission was 'to draw research base and industrial practitioners into the development of a strategy to underpin successful industrial innovation and to encourage the funding bodies to implement it'. Lilly accepted an invitation to serve a member of the BJAB, 1 September 1992 - 31 August 1994.</dc:description>
