  <dc:title>Der Sachsenspiegel [Fragment]</dc:title>
<dc:description>Fragment of a copy of Der Sachsenspiegel or Sassen Speyghel, which is a compendium of German law notable for having been written in Middle Low German (rather than Latin) in about 1220. The text on this leaf is from Book II of the Lantrechtes (Common Law). Main body text in a Gothic bookhand in black ink in two columns. With red paragraph marks that extend to underlining, red rubrics and large 2-line capitals alternating red and blue.
The word "BASSUS" has been written perpendicular to the text across the verso, and probably relates to the work that was bound into the fragment.</dc:description>
