  <dc:title>Categoriae Decem [Fragment]</dc:title>
<dc:description>Single quarto sized leaf, parchment, with text from the Categoriae Decem, a summary of the categories of Aristotle, originally attributed to St Augustine. Text in a minuscule script in dark brown. A faint red stain over and around a capital D on the top line may be the remnants of a highlight.
The text on the recto begins in Chapter VI at "...[calumnian]tibus aditus clauderetur. Definit ergo insubiecto esse quod in altero est aliquo...". The text on the verso has been completely removed by adhesive, except for a small patch in the top corner.
There is a later annotation in black ink at the bottom of the recto, upside down to the main text, which reads: "Hic liber est scriptus / Anno M. CC. Io / p[...]rg de Meleduno Scripsit" This suggests that the fragment may have been used in the binding of one of the works of Robert de Melun, Bishop of Hereford (1100-1167), and the date of 1201 probably relates to this and not the fragment itself. There is also a large but very faded annotation at the bottom of the leaf, possibly a shelfmark relating to the Melun work. With a pencil annotation "aii" at the top of the leaf.</dc:description>
