Biblical Commentary [Fragment] Fragment of a leaf from a religious text, probably a biblical commentary, parchment. Contains a commentary on and text from Romans. Text in brown in a low grade Gothic textualis rotunda in a single column, with large capitals of varying sizes decorated with pen flourishes in red and blue, red and blue decoration in the left-hand margins, red and blue chapter headings, red highlights and rubrics. Original prick-marks visible in both margins. The leaf has been trimmed and some text is missing from the bottom. Recto: the text begins with an introductory gloss. The opening of the Epistle "Paulus servus jhesu christi [...] apostolis segregatus" begins with a large decorated initial P. The extract begins at Romans 1:1 and is cut midway through 1:24. Verso: the text resumes at Romans 1:30 and continues through Romans 2 and Romans 3. The last word on the verso is "Sepulchrum", the first word of Romans 3:13. Late 13th Century - Early 14th Century?
