The NCVYS secured funding through the Cabinet Office's Youth Social Action Journey fund to run a apartnership project to establish social action squads providing 1500 new environmental  and rural youth social action opportunities for young people who were interested in getting involved in the National Citizen Service, or had recently graduated from the service. Programme partners were the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, the National Federation of Young Farmers Clubs and the Canal and River Trust</dc:description>
