Person Cooke, Ebenezer fl. 1837-1913 drawing master GB/366/125 Occupation, sphere of activity: Cooke was a drawing master interested in the theory and practice of art education and expressed his views in conference papers and journal articles. He taught in a variety of establishments, including succeeding Ruskin at the Working Men's College. Among other activities, he served on the Council of the Society for the Development of the Science of Education (founded in 1875 as the Education Society), and on the Committee of the Third International Congress for the Development of Drawing and Art Teaching, 1908. In 1894 he also published an English edition of Pestalozzi's How Gertrude Teaches Her Children.
