In 1875 she entered Newnham College, Cambridge. After leaving Cambridge she began her career in the schools of the Girls' Public Day School Company. She taught at St John's Wood High School, Bath High School Chelsea High School and Oxford High School, before becoming the head South Hampstead High School in 1886, (formerly St John's Wood). She served on many local committees in the Hampstead area, including the Red Cross and Schools' Patriotic Union. She was also the chair of the Head Mistresses' Association in 1903-1905 and 1906-1907.  She retired in 1918 and died on 28 May 1944. </Nationality>
