Person Ethel Gavin (1886-1918)

1886-1918 Ethel Gavin, was born on 2 April 1866, at Elgin, Moray. She was educated in Switzerland and Maida Vale High School, which was run by the Girls' Public Day School Company (GPDSC). She graduated from Girton College, Cambridge, in 1888 and became an assistant mistress at Maida Vale. In 1893 she was appointed as head of the GPDSC school, Shrewsbury High School and was later transferred to Notting Hill High School in 1900. She took an MA at Trinity College, Dublin in 12905 and in 1908 became the head of Wimbledon High School, which was run by the Girls' Public Day School Trust (formerly the GPDSC).
