Person Jameson; Elsie Pringle ([1880]-1958)

[1880]-1958 Elsie Jameson was born in London and educated at Dulwich High School 1888-1899, one of the schools opened by the Girls Public Day School Company (later Trust, GPDST) until the age of 18, when she travelled Europe and kept a house for her brother in South Africa. From 1910-1913 she attended Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, and then trained for her Cambridge Teachers Certificate at St Mary's College, Lancaster Gate. She began her teaching career at several GPDST schools, Brighton and Hove High School, 1916-1917, and Notting Hill High School, 1918. In 1919 she became the head of Queen Ethelburga's School in Harrogate until she was appointed the principal of Jerusalem Girls' College, Jerusalem in 1925. In 1937 she returned to England to become the head of Norwich High School, another school of the GPDST, where she worked until her retirement in 1946.
