c1906-1982 Millicent Hancock was educated at St Gilda's Covent and Parliament Hill Secondary School. She read French at St Anne's Society, Oxford University and, after graduating in 1928, took the Oxford Diploma in Education. She taught in several day schools including King's Lynn High School; the High School for Girls, Rugby; and King's Norton Girls' Secondary School, Birmingham. From 1939-1947 she was the senior French mistress at Bradford Grammar School. In 1947 she was appointed the head of the Girls' Public Day School Trust Sheffield High School until she was transferred to Oxford High School in 1959, where she remained until her retirement in 1966.
