d.1997 Frances M Milford was educated at Blackburn High School before going on to the University of Liverpool to study geography, 1925-1928, and gained her Oxford Diploma of Education in 1929. She first taught at Park School, Preston, before moving to the Girls' Public Day School Trust's Sheffield High School in 1932. In 1944 she became the head of Warrington High School for Girls'. In 1950 she returned to the GPDST to be the head of Nottingham High School, where she remained until her retirement in 1967.
