1910-2002 Elsa Cameron was born on 18 April 1910. She was educated at Camelot Preparatory School, 1917-1920; the Girls' Public Day School Trust (GPDST) Belvedere School, Liverpool, 1920-1929; and Girton College, Cambridge, 1929-1932. She taught at Rodean School, Brighton, 1932-1937; Henrietta Barnett School, Hampstead Garden Suburb, 1937-1945; Rodean School, 1946-1960. In 1960 she was appointed the head of the GPDST Croydon High School, where she remained until her retirement in 1974. In retirement she became the chair of the Croydon Branch of the Save the Children Fund.
