Corporate Bromley High School 1883- Bromley High School was opened by the Girls' Public Day School Company at 'Fern Bank', 30 Elmfield Road, on January 19 1883 with 23 pupils headed by Mary Lousia Heppel. A preparatory department was opened by 1895. As the school grew additional buildings were added to Fern Bank. In 1920 the Trust bought 'The Hawthorns' (24 Elmfield Road) for the preparatory and Lower forms. In 1932 a new wing was added to the Hawthorns, with a six form room, a library, domestic science room, and a dining hall. The school remained at Elmfield Road throughout World War Two. In 1946 the school purchased 15 Elmfield Road and 28 Elmfield Road in 1948. In 1981 the school moved to Bickley to occupy new buildings set in 24 acres of grounds and playing fields.
