Corporate Kensington Preparatory School 1948- Kensington Preparatory School was initially the junior department of Kensington High School. The High School, originally named Chelsea High School, was the first school opened the Girls' Day School Company in 1873 based at Durham House in Chelsea. In 1888 the school moved to a large building in St Albans Grove, Kensington, and became Kensington High School. After school building was destroyed by bombing in 1941, the senior school moved to 17 Upper Phillimore Gardens and the junior department moved to No. 5. The senior school was closed in 1948 after they could not get planning permission to extend the building. The junior department moved to 17 Upper Phillimore Gardens and became Kensington High School Junior School. By 1985 the school was faced with falling numbers, and the decision was made to renamed Kensington Preparatory School and run along the lines of a traditional preparatory school. In 1997 the school moved to new premises on 596 Fulham Road.
