She was educated at St Paul's Girl's School, London, 1921-1926, and Somerville College, Oxford, 1926-1930. From 1932-1939 she taught at Clapham County Secondary School before becoming an HM Inspector in 1939. In 1971 she returned to teaching at St Mary's Covent School in Shaftsbury. She was appointed OBE in 1965. In 1989 she was awarded the papal medal Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice. She died in 2001

She was a member of the Council of the Girls' Public Day School Trust from 1971-1991 and was a member of the Education Committee and the Council's representative on the governors of Bath High School. </Nationality>
