1861-1949 Wyndham Rowland Dunstan was born on 24 May 1861. He was educated at Bedford School and abroad. He worked at the Pharmaceutical Society's School of Pharmacy from 1879. He was also a demonstrator in the University of Oxford's chemical laboratories in 1884. From 1892 to 1900 he was lecturer on chemistry in St Thomas's Hospital medical school. In 1896 he became director of the scientific and technical department of the Imperial Institute and became its director in 1903 until he retired in 1924. He was also interested in the teaching of science and philosophy, and worked with various societies interested in the same subject. He was appointed CMG in 1913 and KCMG in 1924. He died on 20 April 1949. He was a member of the Girls' Public Day School Trust Council, 1899-1924 and a Vice-President, 1861-1949. GB/366/587 T. A.
