She was educated at St James's Boarding School at West Malvern. From she travelled the world before returning in 1935 to marry to Prince Henry, first duke of Gloucester (1900-1974), third son of George V. She was actively involved in various charities and became the patron of the Girl's Public Day School Trust in 1940. From 1945-1948 she moved with young family to Australia where her husband had been appointed governor general. Her eldest son died in 1972 and her husband died 1975. In 1995 she moved to apartments in Kensington Palace, which she shared with her son. She died on 29 October 2004. </Nationality>
