He was also one of the Editors of the New Era from 1972-1982. He retired in 1980 and was appointed a trustee of the Gandhi Foundation. He also became a visiting Fellow of the Institute of Education and played a key role in the foundation of a chair of peace studies at the university. He chair the board of Houseman's, a pacifist book shop, and worked for the Peace Pledge Union. He died on 6 December 1991 as he completed his speech at a World Education Fellowship Madhuri Shah memorial lecture.</Nationality>
