fl. 1907-[1980] Head of the Italian Section of the World Education Fellowship. Born in Italy. Read philosophy until her was relived from his post in 1938. He moved to the USA and was one of the followers of Gaetano Salvemini and Armando Borghi. While in the US he sketched out a plan for a new educational system where pupils should be treated as humane and liberal persons aware of their relations with humanity and the social environment. He also worked at Yale University with Ernst Cassirer and John Dewey. He returned to Italy after the War and worked the rest of his career at the University of Florence as the Director of the Istituto di Pedagogia.
