In 1929 the PEA wished to be associated with the New Education Fellowship and offically became the American Section in August 1932. It was renamed the American Education Fellowship in 1944 due to rising hostility against progressive education in the USA. In 1959 it was reconstituted as the US section of the Fellowship. New York chapter was established in 1957. Chicago chapter formed in 1959.
