1874-1956 He was born on 27 May 1874 near Clare, South Australia. He was educated at state primary schools at Redhill and Milbrook, then at Houghton and Sturt Street, Adelaide. He had trained as a pupil teacher before training as a teacher at Grote Street Training College in 1894 and the Melbourne Training College, 1907. He taught at various schools before becoming the head teacher of Adelaide High School, the first to be founded by the Education Department. Ge was the inspector of high schools, 1919-1920; superintendent of secondary education, 1920-1929; director of education in 1929-39.
