TitleMarie Lewin or Charlet's petition
Date31 Oct 1823
DescriptionMarie Lewin, a 63 year old seamstress, requests to be admitted to the Hospital. Her late father, Guillaume Jevons, was originally from Picardy. Marie suffers from rheumatism and oedema so can only work half the hours she is supposed to. As a result, she is no longer financially independent. A note in a different hand signed by Charles Scholl, personally recommends Marie, but calls her the widow Charlet. The petition is also signed by Thomas Perrin, Peter Fremaux, Charles Gordelier, William White and William Cushway.
