TitleRegistry of inmates
Date1772-1953
DescriptionLike H/D/5/1, this volume re-enters all inmates in residence when it was started, which appears to have been early in 1772. The entries, unlike earlier ones, are numbered, from 1 to 1818. Up to No. 1271 (in 1849) the information recorded is: name, date of entry, nominating Society or benefactor (if any), date of death or departure, and - up to 1817 - room number, or the remark 'aliéné' for mental cases housed in the 'petites maisons'. From 1834 the age at entry and at death are usually given, and from a little later the note 'widow', 'widower', 'spinster', or 'bachelor'.
In 1850 the names and particulars of all surviving inmates were re-entered, with their original numbers, but additional columns give the name and place of origin, when known, of the inmate's refugee ancestor; names of persons by whom recommended, with notes of any certificates produced; 'remarks'; and place of burial. Much of this information is derived from the printed petitions (H/D/3).
