Title1703
Date1703
DescriptionThis is thought to be the first of the series of 'tats' to be printed. A statement of the French Committee on p. 30 is dated 'sur la fin de lannee 1703'. The names of distributors of the grant appear on pp. 17 and 23, with dates 3 and 15 November 1703 respectively. The printer (p. 30) appears to have been Robert Roger, 'Black-Fryers, proche de limprimerie Royale'. On the same page it is stated that anyone wanting information regarding the relief distributed by the French Committee should apply to the Committee, or to the 'Maison de Ville, de Londres' (The City Guildhall), where the accounts of the Committee, closed and finalized by Messieurs les Commissaires Anglais were deposited, with all the receipts and authorizations of expenditures.
As far as is known at present the printed list of 1703 in Lambeth Palace Library is the only copy to survive. It has also one unique feature, in that it includes, as well as grants to the laity, names of ministers and their dependents receiving grants from the £3,000 allocated to the clergy. The French Committee had no control over the distribution of this grant, and all later lists are concerned only with the £12,000 allocated to the laity.
The date of the grant nor the date it was received by the Committee are given. The amount of the grant was for £15,000. This is a copy of the of the list in Lambeth Palace Library.
